Inspiring you to live your best life

One story at a time

I am a big believer that we all have a voice deep down inside, calling us towards “more”. I also know that we often tend to push that voice away for a myriad reasons: I can’t do it, I’m too old, I’m too young, I’m too busy, I’m too tired, I’m too broke, I’m too scared…

But what if someone out there is waiting for YOU to step up to your “more”, so they can be inspired to do the same? My guests have stepped up to the challenge of doing just that. Their stories will help you believe that possibility is everywhere!

Discover a whole brain life with Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor: unlock joy, balance, and your full potential.

Dr. Taylor is a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who literally studied her own stroke, when she suffered a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain.
In the course of four hours, she lost the ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life.

Although the work she had done leading up to that day was extraordinary, Jill came back after her recovery (a journey that took her eight years) to walk down the path of her true calling.

Her memoir, My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist’s Personal Journey, spent 63 weeks on the NYT Bestseller list, and her 2008 TED Talk was the first ever to go viral, with over 30 million views to date.
She was chosen as one of TIME Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World”, and appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show and Oprah’s Super Soul Series.

In this episode we dive into her latest book Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life.

About the host

Hi there, friend. I’m Maruja.

As a singer, I have been blessed to grace global stages and perform on TV shows that reached 40+ million people around the world. As a marketing strategist, I grew my company to working with some of the world’s biggest brands. Going after some of her wildest dreams, this girl from a small Dutch-Caribbean island, had made the world her oyster.

But here’s the caveat. It seemed like almost overnight I lost sight of the girl that made that happen. As a matter of fact, for about a decade of my life, the drive to go after the goals and dreams I had set for myself made way for crippling self-doubt and the feeling that I was no longer cut out for “more”. I would look back on some of the highlights of my career in an almost out-of-body experience, as if I were looking at someone else’s life. “I’ve had a great run and have so much to be grateful for,” became my excuse for not daring to dream bigger dreams, and most definitely not entertaining that little voice inside telling me there was a possibility of more…

That’s when the story of others changed my life. The story of those who defied the odds to overcome seemingly unsurmountable obstacles and achieve the unimaginable. Stories of ordinary people who did extraordinary things. They gave a glimpse of what was possible, and little by little I started to believe in the promise of that possibility. The possibility of reigniting my career at the age of 50. The possibility of embracing all my passions and turning them into a source of inspiration and empowerment for others.

As my journey unfolds (once again), I want nothing more than to bring you along with me. I want to remind you that no matter what stage of life you’re in, your story and your journey are still unfolding in the most amazing ways. We might have had a good run, dear friend, but the best lies before us!

One week at a time, one story at a time, I want to remind you of the Promise of Possibility.

Believing in you always,
